Our Story

StumpHaus was created to be much more than a bar. My vision was to build a gathering place where locals, visitors, hikers, cyclists, families, and friends could come together over great craft beer, exceptional wine, handcrafted cocktails, and meaningful conversation. Located at the gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains, StumpHaus reflects everything I love about hospitality: community, authenticity, and creating memorable experiences.

Above all, my greatest accomplishment is my family. My wife and I are blessed with five amazing children who inspire us every day. They remind me why creating places like StumpHaus matters—because great communities are built when people come together.
